Does a stretch wrapper heat-shrink the film?

A pallet stretch wrapper stretches film around the load. It is a different process from a heat-shrink system. Specify machine stretch film compatible with the selected film carriage; do not choose heat-shrink film simply because the finished package looks tightly wrapped.

The amount of stretch, applied tension and film overlap must suit both the film and the goods. A higher nominal pre-stretch percentage is not, by itself, proof of lower film consumption or better load stability.

Will more film tension always give a better result?

No. The wrapping pattern needs to hold the load while avoiding damage to cartons, corners and fragile products. Record where film breaks or the load deforms during the trial. Compare the settings, film specification and finished result together rather than changing several variables without keeping a record.

Measure film used per accepted pallet under the same conditions when comparing settings. Keep rejected wraps and rework visible in the comparison; a low film weight on an unacceptable load is not a useful saving.

Is a top platen included with every machine?

No. Keepway's KPW-T1650 is the standard model, while T1850 is the custom configuration. Custom options can include a top platen, turntable size and mast height. A platen must be suitable for the load's top surface and allowable pressure. Confirm it in the quotation rather than assuming that an example photograph defines the supplied specification.

For a load that should not rotate, use the wrapping equipment selection guide to review a different arrangement. A platen is not a substitute for that assessment.

Does stretch wrapping make the pallet waterproof?

Do not assume that wrapping the sides seals the whole load. Open tops, pallet openings, punctures and the storage environment need separate attention. Describe rain exposure, moisture sensitivity and any top-cover requirement so the packaging method can be assessed for that use.

Which tasks does the operator still perform?

Confirm who positions the pallet, attaches the film, starts the cycle, finishes the film tail and removes the load. The word “automatic” should identify the specific tasks included in the offered configuration. Check the actual supplied functions and operating instructions.

For an output trial, include the loading and unloading time, film changes and the normal operator workflow. Turntable revolutions per minute are not the same as completed pallets per hour.

Is the machine maintenance-free?

No maintenance-free promise is made here. Follow the supplied maintenance schedule and isolation instructions. Agree operator checks, cleaning requirements, film-path inspection, wear-part inspection and service responsibilities for the delivered configuration.

Before ordering, ask what documentation, recommended spares and service arrangements accompany the machine. Electrical supply, phase, installation access and operator training should be confirmed for the destination site.

What should an acceptance record include?

Keep photos or video of the agreed trial with the configuration record. Repeat the assessment when load shape, film or handling conditions materially change. See the heavy and unstable pallet assessment and the site loading checklist for the other parts of the decision.
